About Seram Neken, the author



Seram Neken is a regular columnist at the Hueiyen Lanpao English daily. His column appears on every Tuesday under the name "The Voiceless Speaks". As a student of journalism, he has been contributing news features and articles to local English newspapers and online publications for over a decade now.

He worked in the Manipur News English daily as sub-editor from 1994 to 1997. He was the editor of 'Echo', the quarterly journal of Manipur University Students' Union during 1997 - 1998. While he was working in the Manipur State AIDS Control Society (MACS) from 1999-2008, Seram Neken participated in the planning and execution of communication strategies for prevention against HIV and AIDS. He was also the executive editor of the regular publications of MACS - 'AIDS Alert' and 'MACS News'.

He was awarded RK Maipaksana Journalist Fellowship 2010 - 2011 for writing articles on social, political, cultural and economic issues of the state His book "State, Society & Governance" ( a compilation of 50 articles) was published in March 2012.

He also writes scripts for radio and TV documentaries. His radio musical features entitled "Eikhoina Soidana Ngamgani" based on AIDS won the Akashvani Award 2007. "Meekap Thoklakpa Ngaikhini" based on child labour begged Akashvani Merit Award 2010. He also wrote the radio feature entitled "Nilhanlasi Lamjaose Mandilagi Khonjelna" based on promotion of bicycles for environment, health and economy.

The present work "Voice of the Voiceless" is a collection of articles already published during 2012-2013.
